About the project
The project created a series of 5 benches with planters. They provide a necessary area for students to rest, eat food, do their homework, and more. This project will additionally improve the overall refinement of the place, adding some beauty to the area, and turning the courtyard into a social hub filled with student life. The science courtyard was one of the few places at Fulton Middle School with a lack of decor. Previously, all that was located there were two trees. This project created a space for students to enjoy time with their friends and do other various tasks in an enjoyable place. Over $6,250 in materials and money was fundraised, 67 unique people (23 Scouts/19 Scouters/9 other youth/16 other adults) worked on it, and there were 524.60 total hours of service.
Community impact
The project created an area that will benefit students and the surroundings, making the science courtyard look nicer. The extra expenses spent on the benches makes sure the project will still be standing for a long time, resistant to external dangers with minimal maintenance. This has also sparked new enthusiasm around uplifting Fulton, with multiple other rennovations of the area now planned.
